Children's Christmas

2006
For me Christmas is not the same without my children and grandchildren.
2007
Every year we sit them on the same sofa in front of the TV and take the same traditional picture.

2009
So when my daughter said that she was on call at her hospital and won't make it to our family gathering at my place, I was quite depressed.
I finally accepted the fact that she had her priorities and her little patients needed her more than we did. I planned my cooking and baking, and started decorating my apartment.

2011
But one day I received a lovely phone call announcing she'd agreed to switch with another doctor. He'll sub for her on Christmas and she'd sub for him on New Year, and yeah, they were coming, but would leave early on Christmas morning.

We opened the Christmas presents on the 24th in the afternoon for the children to have time to enjoy them. My neat living room turned into one happy messy area.

Our building came up with a fantastic Children's Party on Christmas Eve from 3-5 pm, in the lounge. All the children visiting on that day were invited to sing along and light the Menorah. What an amazing idea to unite all the children and have them share the holiday fun together.
To the children's delight, Santa Claus came later. Each kid was invited to sit on his lap for a memorable photo.

This is a five star plus from Mona Risk. Pulled me in within the first chapter and kept me hooked. And oh, that night in Paris in a  heavy rainstorm - I just had to re- read it several times for the sheer pleasure of it. I couldn't have imagined it any better.

Mona,
What a wonderful time you had! I can see it in everyone's faces. So glad your daughter was able to come spend Christmas with you. You have some great pictures--and I'm sure the memories will be with you a long time, too.
Hugs,
Cheryl

Lovely photos Mona. I couldn't believe I didn't take a single picture and it may be the last Christmas for a while that I have all my family together for the holidays. I was cooking and completely forgot to get my camera. But they were here.

Mona, your grand kids are growing like weeds but are beautiful flowers. I miss the days when we had grand kids at Mama's house for Christmas. Thanks for sharing yours with us.

Glad you enjoyed the pictures, Barbara.

Hi Cheryl, I had a wonderful time watching the kids, preparing dinner, and making sure everyone was in a good mood, but my foot was killing me and at the end of the evening I collapsed on a sofa, and let them finish the party without me.

Calisa, I know what you mean. I was very busy myself with the cooking and taking care of my guests, but my son knows I insist on my traditional pictures. So my son and son-in-law are in charge of pictures.

Hi Mary, while looking at the previous pictures I realized how much they have grown, especially the two younger ones who are now almost as tall as the the older two.

Mona--I adore those photos of the children on the sofa. What a wonderful idea...it was so touching to see how they grew each year. One made me laugh--the last one where they're wearing crowns, and the girls are sitting so prim and proper..and the boy is slouched down! Very cute...and typical.
Your place looks lovely--and warm...I've been cold for weeks and weeks...just cannot get warm.
Thanks for sharing your holiday.

How lovely, Mona. You are so blessed to have four healthy, adorable grands. What a nice treat for you to have your daughter reschedule her shift so that she could be there with you this year. Hugs!!!

Mona, the children are lovely and I adore their smiles. I loved how you showed the couch pictures and how they've grown. You enjoy them! And I'm glad your daughter was able to make Christmas. That's what the holidays are all about.

Smiles
Steph

Hi Celia, David was supposed to be dressed up with long pants, white shirt and black bow tie. He absolutely refused! He finally wore his official outfit for 5 minutes before dinner and then snatched out his bow. The girls were delighted to twirl around us and show their new dresses. I love my sofa pictures. Now my children and spouses also insist on having copies.

Hi Maggie, I was so happy they were all able to come. As my son put it: "we want the kids to have beautiful memories of family togetherness at Christmas." I was really touched that it was as important to them as it is to me.

Hi Steph, like you my daughter has a lot of trouble coordinating family fun and her work responsibilities. Glad you too have a good time with your children.

Hi Mona! Love your pictures....so cool to see how your grandbabies grew and changed in just a year :)

Glad you could spend Christmas with them!

Thank you Christine for stopping by my blog. These children are the pupils of my eyes. Unfortunately, they live far away and I don't see them often.

Hi Mona,
What a lovely Christmas photo gallery of your grandchildren. Looks like you all had a wonderful time. Regretfully my little granddaughter was overseas visiting in other grandmother.

Regards

Margaret
