{Pictures of Fort Lauderdale seen from the Intercoastal and from the ocean } Today in the US we celebrate our fathers.
For some it’s a joyful celebration and a family gathering with brunch or dinner. For others, the day brings back sweet memories as we remember our dads. And yet, there are some, like a friend of mine, who would rather not think about that day.
In my family, my husband will be honored by our children and grandchildren as we go out to have brunch together. We treasure those moments when the little ones present him with cards, flowers or “art” made especially for him.
- My father passed away years ago, but I always remember him during the week preceding Father’s day as his birthday fell near by. I have a framed picture of my father, sitting at his desk, writing or reading, piles of paper concealing the wood surface. He was a professor and a writer with more than twenty published books. My mother was not allowed to fix the clutter on his desk, absolute chaos according to her. He called it his personal arrangement, swearing he could find any paper instantly.
